Can't delete email in SquirrelMail

This information applies if you are trying to delete email in SquirrelMail and you see an error message similar to the following:

ERROR : Could not complete request.
Query: COPY 62 "INBOX.Trash"
Reason Given: UID COPY failed: Message copy failed: Disk quota exceeded

When SquirrelMail moves email to the trash it copies the emails before removing them from the inbox. If your web hosting account is full, SquirrelMail has no space to copy the email, so instead it gives the above error message.

Your only options at this point are to either clear space elsewhere in your hosting account before trashing your email, or download and delete your email in a regular POP mail client such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.

If these options are not available to you, contact us and we will temporarily increase your disk space to allow you to delete your unwanted email.

Our tip: To avoid this in future there is a SquirrelMail setting found in Options->Folder Preferences that allows you to choose your Trash Folder. To have your deleted email permanently removed rather than moved to the "Trash" folder by default, simply set this to "[ Do not use Trash ]". You will then be able to use SquirrelMail to delete email whether your account is full or not. Do note that this option cannot be set when your account is full and also remember that once set, any email you delete will be deleted permanently.
