As .nz domain prices go up, a new offer will help absorb the pain

When InternetNZ announced a hefty rise in the wholesale price of .nz domains from 1 July, we shared an update as quickly as we could. That gave you time to plan ahead and renew your .nz domains now, locking in future years at today’s price.

To recap, a massive 22% is being added to the wholesale price of every .nz domain registration or renewal. And that cost is by far the biggest component of the final price that you see in our checkout.

Giving you plenty of notice was the right thing to do, even though we got the news out so fast that we couldn’t say how our own prices would change. After taking some time to assess things, we are happy to announce a special four-month offer to help absorb the pain.

Any .nz domains that you transfer to MyHost in June can earn account credits and be renewed at the older, lower price.

From 1 July, the new price is $29.95/yr

We’ve done our best to keep this price rise as low as we could, and only matched the increase in our wholesale costs. All .nz domains, including .co.nz, .net.nz, .org.nz and all the rest, will go up from $25.95/yr to $29.95/yr (excl. GST), an increase of $4.

From June-September, we’ll pay account credits for .nz transfers

From 1 June to 30 September 2025, we’ll credit $4 to your account for every full-priced .nz domain that you transfer to MyHost from one of our competitors. So if you have .nz domains that cost you too much with other suppliers, here's the perfect time to move on.

And yes, you read those dates right. The Account Credit Offer opens a whole month before domain prices go up. Any .nz domains that you transfer to MyHost in June can earn account credits and be renewed at the older, lower price.

We don't charge transfer fees on .nz domains, so if you have .nz domains with any other suppliers, now is the perfect time to check how they are responding to the new wholesale price, and compare what's on offer here at MyHost.

Account credits can go towards domains, hosting, servers, or anything else in your MyHost account. We’ll apply all credits in October.

A few common-sense conditions

This offer applies to full-priced domains, so if you have a pre-existing deal or discount then it won't apply.

So long as you don’t try to game this offer, there’s no limit on the account credits that you could earn. Just don’t try something like repeatedly moving domains in and out of your MyHost account. And note that we're talking about transfers from competitors, so transfers from our sister companies SiteHost and Domains Direct aren’t included.

Pay $25.95/yr for renewals before 1 July

Remember that if you’re reading this before July, there’s still time to renew domains now at today’s price. You could add up to ten years for $25.95/yr. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: It’s never too early to renew.
